how to remove mildew from chairs?

I have just bought a second hand table and chairs which are in very good condition but unfortunately have been stored in a damp basement and the fabric undersides of the padded seats of the chairs have some spots of mildew on them.
Can anyone tell me how I can remove the mildew please?
We are planning on getting the chairs re-covered at some time but have to make do with them as they are for now so would like to get rid of the smell. The tops of the chairs are fine by the way as they are leather.
