I have a NR Together mortgage about 74K in Secured, 23K in unsecured, I want to get my ex off the mortgage as he does not want to be part of my life, also its been over a year since we broke up so time to move on and it is causing a bit of hassle in my current relationship.

Can i remortgage in my own name just the 74K what are the advantages / disadvantages? Will NR chase my ex for his payment towards the unsecured as 50/50 even though he is on benefit? I read doing this for a fixed rate and then maybe I should take an IVA for the unsecured! My friend has recently gone onto an IVA and I have chatted to him about it.
