Ex Husband has gone bankrupt

I have a joint bank loan with my ex husband and he has declared himself bankrupt. I have been paying all the repayments since he left and I have just found out by accident that my sole account and the joint loan has been passed to the credit management services. The bank failed to take this months repayment but I have since sent a one off payment to cover this month. If I get a loan in my own name and pay off the joint loan, will I still be financially assoicated with my EX? Will my credit rating be affected? Will I be able to take my EX to court in 6 years to claim the loan money back ? I can show/prove the debt was his not mine, I was just stupid to put my name against the loan.

You will never be able to legally recoup any money from your EX for this debt. His liability to it went in his BR and that will never change. Sorry.
Once the joint account is closed then you should be able to get a disassociation on your credit file.0 -
