Skin Genesis face peel Manchester

Has anyone had the special offer face peel or Microdermabrasion that skin genesis offer for £25?
I am thinking of having it done, but am abit nervous as I dont want the 'hard sell' I would be going to the Manchester clinic.
£100 - £10,000

Yes thats what I fancy having done, I have found a newspaper review and it says there is no down time, it doesn't leave your face red it just cleans out the pores and improves the tone/texture.
I will post if I do decide to go for it!

I'm going this Saturday but it's for a "Free Expert Skin Health Analysis worth £100 at SkinGenesis at SkinGenesis Manchester Clinic " so I'll let you know how the hard sell goes. I went to a similar thing at another place in Manchester a few weeks ago and got a free facial microdermabrasion. Because I'm going on the weekend when they are busy there is a refundable £25 deposit. What're the odds they try and make me spend it on a reduced price treatment? Which I am possibly prepared to do as the dermabrasion was pretty good!

Oh, the Manchester SkinGenesis moved in February. Link to their update is on the SkinGenesis website. Sorry I'm a newbie so can't post links, but if you go to the news / jobs bit you should find it under Latest.

It's on St John Street which is off the the Science Museum end of Deansgate.

Thanks Adorian, It would be great if you could post how it goes. Where did you get the free Micro dermabrasion done? Is it a special offer?

  • Is this the Genesis laser treatment, or is Genesis just the name of the shop? I'd love to know if anyone's tried the Genesis laser. My skin is really red and blotchy with huge pores so I'd love to know if the Genesis laser actually makes a long-term difference.

Oops. I didn't get back on this one. I had microdermabrasion at DestinationSkin which is now in House of Fraser (Kendals) which is where your face gets scrubbed with little crystals and sucked back up in a vacuum. My skin felt lovely afterwards but I had bits of gritty stuff in my ears and my hairline. It was a special offer, I think it was through the Wahanda website. They weren't too bad with the hard sell and the staff were pleasant.
I had a very hard sell experience at the Skin Genesis place and they kept me waiting even though they knew I was on a parking meter outside. They started out by asking me what products I used and how much they cost(!) then took photos of my skin that showed all the aging and made me feel really depressed!! Mostly she pushed me to buy products. Apaprently they will not do a peel until you have used the products they have prescribed for you (and which you pay a lot for). This might be different if you go in for the £25 one which begs the question, how effective can it be if you are supposed to prepare your skin for a few weeks beforehand? So, anyway, I had to pay a £25 'refundable' deposit but, whilst the woman I was dealing with was happy to ignore me saying I really had to leave because the meter was about to expire, when I asked for my deposit back she told me she wouldn't want me to get a parking ticket because I was waiting for the money and that they would just keep it for me on account. I said I'd risk the ticket and they did not seem best pleased.
Just a warning: I get unsolicited texts from both companies on a regular basis although I'd been told that my mobile number was just needed to confirm my booking.
I wouldn't use Skin Genesis again but I'd probably give Destination Skin another go.
    Hope maybe that helps somebody.
