ex husband and redundancy

Hi
Hope somebady on the board can give me some advice.
Ex is being made redundant Friday and is under the impression that he will no longer have to make maintenance payments for our daughter.
We split up 11 years ago and orginally went thro the CSA - we have three children oldest now 20 and youngest 15.
We decided to make a private arrangement a year ago after a payment mix up with ex changing bank accounts keeping to the csa payment. this worked well and carried on until June when son 18 left college. He earns 36k pa and lives with parents so no major living expenses. He used to pay £536 per month until then, he told me in June that he had spoken to the CSA and they advised that payments should go down to £300 per month as son left college and is working part time.
Now he is being made redundant on Friday but is being paid 9 weeks notice and 3 weeks holiday pay and is not free to take a new job until October sometime. Should payments continue until October, furthermore if he does not secure a job straight away do payments stop or would he still be expected to contribute out of his redundancy payments (unsure of amount but know it is more than 10k)?
We have a very good relationship and dont want to cause any stress to him but at the same time if i do not receive some payment our budget will be stretched to far.
What way should I go - back to the CSA - would we go back to CSA1 or CSA2 and would it make a difference? at the time we went to private arrangement there was still 4k in arrears owed from when we first split i presume, would that be written off or still on our case file? I am not trying to get my hands on his money but I am concerned that he might stop payments starting this friday and we will be left up !!!!! creek without a paddle. Has anyone experienced this before and knows the right way to move forward?
many thanks

My understanding is that if he cant get a job and gets JSA then you will get £5 a week, as for his payment for ending work, I dont think that they will touch this, as not even the Tax man gets a go at it.
Best idea is to talk to him and see what you can sort out between you, save a lot of problems in long run!0 -
Both his PILON ( notice money ) and holiday pay are taxable so therefore they are assessable. What is not assessable is any redundancy payment they make.
If you go back to the CSA you might lose the good relationship. I would suggest speaking to him yourself.0 -
Must have change then because the last time I was made redundant noone got to get at it!0

However, I believe it's different on CS1, where the PWC is entitled to some of the redundancy. How much? I'm not sure. The PILON is just pay as if you were there,it's only your notice period so it's assessed. Like i say redundancy pay is tax free so isn't. It's always been like that.Donedoingdebt Lightbulb moment January 2000. Debt at highest approx £102,000. Debt now (October 2009 - absolutely fork all!!!)

Hello, I haven't been through what you've been through but have read here that payment in lieu of notice is assessable for child support, but redundancy pay is not.
I think as you are on a private arrangment, you should talk to your ex and agree a lesser amount if he can afford this. It may be that he won't be able to contribute anything until he gets a new job. He can't give what he doesn't have.0
