House Insurance after BR

I just thought I would give a quick post incase it is useful to someone.
My house insurance was due for renewal and I phoned around and the most helpful was Barclays, there was no problem with the fact I was BR and i got the same cover for £2 a month less than I was paying.
No trouble at all.

For the record, I use eSure for both home and car insurance. No questions about BR, paying monthly for both was no problem either. This was the case during BR and also now that I am dischargedDogs have owners...my cat has slaves...0

Just thought i would let you all know, incase it helps, they were very nice about it, i don't have a bank account any more and they even let my daughter do the direct debits from her account and put her on the policy as a dry member or policy holder, what ever that means, she lives in the same house, i was going to pay it all upfront but they insisted i did not have to.44lb off and 13 to go.:j0

That encouraging. Barclays seems to be relaxed about BR`s.
I spoke to AA today who seemed to think that a BR person living in a house was something criminal. I questioned the operator who could not tell me why...then he did only sound about 12 !
...haha then came the usual stalling comment....`oh dear the computer has crashed!!` Yeah right:rolleyes::rolleyes:....I am not expecting the quote to be sent in the post !
With Barclays already...looks like that policy will stay in place.

I am loathe to recommend them but Aviva (used to be Norwich Union) have no scruples or small-print in their home insurance policies about we Bankrupties (or, indeed, about Ovaltinies).
I took my policy out (after a couple of months with no insurance while I saved the dosh) via yonder website QUIDCO and got more cash back, eventually, than I'd paid in premium...
Do check the small print. As a very ex-employee of aforesaid insurance company I can tell you that a lot of companies will not mention it on the web, will allow you to pay them and have a get-out anti-BR clause literally buried in the small print. If you don't check then your insurance is useless, they won't pay out. It's up to you to check their small print.
Some companies won't touch you with a barge-pole, others, like those mentioned, will insure an axe murderer's axe business if it brings in £££...At the end of every rainbow is a smug meteorologist with a large prism.0 -
I'm insured with UIA and have been for the past 2 years. We had to make a couple of claims due to a mugging and a loss and they were brilliant. They sorted out the claims really quickly and I notified them when I went BR and it wasn't an issue. Every year I check all of the insurance companies to see if I can get a better deal elsewhere and this year they were still £60 cheaper despite me claiming.

Thanks for that reminder, I have been right through the small print and it does not mention BR in it.
