    there is no rule on how many night she can stay there like there is with benefits etc

    Council Tax is based on SOLE or MAIN RESIDENCE.

    She can stay with you 24/7 for 3 months or more if she wants, as long as she can prove her MAIN residence is elsewhere

    e.g. i'm having my house refurbished for 3 months, so i stay with my friend who is in receipt on SPD, he won't lose the discount as a result of me staying there as my MAIN residence is elsewhere.

    The thing is ... EVERYONE has a main residence (apart from the homeless) so if your partner has been bought out then that property is no longr her residence, I would say it was at yours but councils don't have enough resources to spend 5 hours researching your case and would accept if you stated it was a temporary on-off situation whilst she purchases her own property for example.

    Just an update.... spoke to council today no problems at all as she buying a house. They just had to check also they will review in a number of weeks but by then she will have her own place. Thanks for all your input
