Tesco vouchers, how can I undo this?

Katykat, I'm so sorry to hear about this situation, and my sympathies are with you and your family.
I'm pretty surprised that you had no luck speaking to the hotel. They state on their website that they "are dedicated to providing "Best in Class" service" so you would think that they would prefer (potential) customers to take away a favourable opinion and go out of their way to help. Whether it's something Tescos have specified or not, I'm sure they have the power to override it. It might be worth calling up the main Hilton customer services and/or asking to speak directly to a senior member of staff.
Failing that, me4bargains is probably right about the power of a PR threat but I understand that is probably more hassle than your family needs right now (if, for example, it did escalate and make it into the local press). I really hope that you can find a resolution elsewhere.
Sorry I can't be more help at the moment.0 -
An email to the hotel manager may also be worth a try. The hotel might not give you a direct email address for hin or her but they will give you their name and an email address for the hotel. If it's something like customer.services@hilton.co.uk change the customer.services to the hotel managers name and leave the rest the same joe.bloggs@hilt....., if the mails doesn't get through you'll get a message saying it failed. I recently tried this for a problem I had with Park Resorts, I emailed the MD for Park Resorts at head office, I got a call within 3 hours and the problem was resolved. I'm sure I saw someone on TV before suggesting you put something in message about how the manager wouldn't want to be away if it was their FIL.0

firstly, nest wishes and best of luck. secondly, i strongly suggest you to keep a record of every conversation and name of person you have contacted so far in your plight. as someone has already said, you may not have the strength or will to fight now, but please do so later. it is absurd, in these circumstances, if you have clear evidence, that no-one can help you out. if they insist on their intransigence i would make it as widely public as you are able.... there's no pr like bad pr - and yr story now has made me think twice....0

I also am surprised the hotel itself couldn't rearrange your stay. I had a similar situation last year when my DD broke her elbow 10 days before we were due to have our weekend away. The hotel (Treetops, Aberdeen) were very helpful and rearranged it for two months later when we could get away again. It obviously depends on who you speak to at the hotel - I would have expected, given the nature of your situation, they would show more compassion. Good luck with everything.0

Is there someone with the same surname as you who could take the break off your hands - how much personal info is on the Hilton vouchers? Are they like the meals out ones which just have the surname? The person could always say they had recently moved house if the hotel has your address...etc etc a cousin or 2nd cousin of your partners perhaps or a fellow MSE'r??0

That's so bad. I hope you can sort it out.Ellie

unfortunately cotesvale, when you book, you have to secure it with your credit card. As the total cost is £310, & we have only £270 vouchers, we have to pay the £40 difference with a credit card. I did consider giving the break to my son who has the same initials & (obviously) surname as my husband, but because of the credit card issue, it has to be us. Also, as it is my sons Grandad who is poorly, he also feels disinclined to have a jolly that weekend. I have not heard back from Hilton cust service yet. I'll give it until this fri then I'll contact their press office & mention something like " I don't think the Daily Express Crusader would like this situation":smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0
