Ooh Toms mum - can I be cheeky and ask what you will put in the survival kit??

I haven't got very far yet, got paracetamol, a notebook reminder calendar thingy I downloaded from Cuddly Buddly and a black "tummy trimmer/bum lift" magic pants type of thing from The Factory Shop for £4 - she was talking about that just before Christmas as she had a couple of do's to get dressed up for and when she looked at the magic pants she said no way was she wearing them :rotfl: . I'm trying to get some marbles, no luck with the grandchildren yet, only want 3 or 4.

I had some suggestions from the lovely ladies on here and made a note of them. This is what I've saved

Plaster – To help you to heal those little hurts
Gum – To help you chew over the difficult questions
Eraser –to remind you that everyone makes mistakes once in a while.
Rubber Band – To remind you to be flexible
Paper clip - To keep things together when they seem to be falling apart
Tissue- To dry tears, yours and theirs
Pain killer- to deal with those little headaches
Tea bag- to help you chill out when you are in hot water!
Crayon- to add a little colour to a dull day
    Penny- for your thoughts
Sugar- To remind you to say sweet in such a difficult job
Hand wipe- for those sticky little fingers!
Band-Aid: For when things get a little rough.
Bath Salts: "To take you away." You deserve a quiet break.
Button: To remind you that some things are best left unsaid
Crayon - to color your day bright and cheerful.
Candle - for when you are up late grading papers.
Ear Plugs - when you just can't take anymore.
Eraser - to remind you everyone makes mistakes and they can be erased.
Flower seeds: to remind you that every day you are planting seeds for the future
Hugs and Kisses - for when you need a hug.
Jewel - because you are so precious.
Lifesaver: For when you've had one of those days.
Marbles - to replace the ones you've lost.
Mint - to remind you that you are worth a "mint".
Mounds Bar - for the mounds of confidence you give your students.
Paperclip - to hold it all together.
Peanuts: To get a little nutty.
Puzzle Piece - without you the class wouldn't be complete.
Rubber band - to remind you to be flexible.
Shiny Penny - to remind you, each will shine in their own special way.
Sponge: To soak up the overflow, when your brain is too full.
Starburst - to give you a "burst" of energy when you need it.
Tissues - to wipe away the tears...yours and theirs.
Toothpaste - for when she needs her first root canal filling.
A pair of reading glasses for when she can't read the small print on yoghourt pots anymore.
Voltarol - for when her back goes for the first time.
Bridget Jones knickers to hold everything in.
A push-up bra for when things start to head south.
Polyfilla for those two lines that appear down the side of your mouth.

Some of them are for a teacher but there's plenty to choose from. I've got a lips stamp so I can do those for the Hugs & Kisses. I must get back to going through the list and getting it sorted!

TomsMum I have some marbles if you would like some PM me your address and I will get them in the post.

Wifey I hope you're feeling better today. Shame about the Dentist, I hope they dont charge you. Thanks for the link to the freebies :)

We took my Dad for his op this morning, and had to be there by 7.45am as he was going straight to theatre...... wrong....... 12.15 he finally went in  Should all be over and done with now, we have to ring up at about 5pm and he should be back on the ward. Mums so independant, grrrr.... I think she was looking forward to some peace and quiet (Dads a bit deaf so has the TV on loud!!)

My laptop is poorly it has a bright red screen  it has been intermittent for a couple of months but has finally gone :( so I will have to have it repaired. That means DH and me fighting over his PC, I hope it wont take long as I feel lost without it!

    Hello

Sorry to hear about your worries over Mums, Nans, & Grans,

Hope the op goes well lei & you get the surgeon you want.

Rainmac - Happy Birthday to your Nan - it must help your Mum a bit that she's in sheltered accomm but cheers for Nan that she's got a good independent streak. We never thought DH's Mum would cope after his Dad died but 3 years on (with Vitaline support that Mum doesn't want!) she's still in her own home. She has Alzheimers & drives us mad but otherwise OK

TomsMum - They are usually quite good nowadays at 'half way' places to get elderly fit to go home. Just a thought, could you phone the hospital and ask to speak to or arrange a social worker for your Mum which might help your Brother too, and at least you could get to put your views across and find out what's available to get her back home. It all takes time & doesn't stop you worrying but it might help push things along. PS She may improve when physically a bit better - my MIL is worse when under the weather/has a cold etc. HTH

Gemma - it's not just Popkins you'll have to barricade the doors & windows against!:rotfl:

Wifey - Thank you for your help earlier! & freebie link - very pretty.

Mad frog - I use fiskars scissors, sadly expensive! Rusty is right about cutting at an angle and/or singeing usually stops fraying. Oh! for tiny scissors I got some really good ones from Mr T's purple handles & only a £ or 2.

Flourgirl - Thanks for up date on your Dad - sometimes think NHS is a Black Hole where time is concerned.

sp?Comiserations sp? about your laptop - don't envy you - luckily my DH can't abide computers & my addiction but downside he's no help when things go wrong.
  • Can anyone tell me how to post a link and picture from someone elses blog to mine - please??? Just spent 30 minutes trying to do it with no luck.

Hi, just a quick post. From 4th February Aldi's will be selling Magnetic photo paper A4 x 5 sheets or A6 x 20 sheets for £4.99 and A4 Canvas Paper x 20 sheets (220gsm) for £3.99. Not sure if these are good buys but I thought I'd mention it.

Thanks for the blog details - I have found a really nice template and once I've finished playing with it I'll post a link for you all. It looks quite sad at the moment :(

Wifey thanks for the freebie valentines stuff

Mad Frog - don't know if this would work but could your paint the ends of your ribbon with clear nail varnish as soon as you cut them (the way you do with tights to stop a ladder)

Lou - love the font you used on your cards. My neice is 5 and she is Disney mad so your bang on with these. (ooh a newbee blogger like me
    too :T)

Sal, Flourgirl and Lei - got everything crossed for you today. Hope it all goes well.

Tomsmum - hopefully it's the infection that's causing your mum's problems - if it's any help my mum had a bad kidney infection (long story) but when she was taken to hospital she was talking nonsense and acting really strange (quite scary) but she's completely back to normal and it was the infection that caused it. Your white card is beautiful.

I'll catch up later tonight as I'm going to be giving my nice new shiny blog some TLC :D
