Following on from Christmas Eve, will there be good food bargains in the supermarkets on New Years Eve? Shops are only shut for 1 day afaik but was wondering if I went about 3pm if there would be meat and veg at knock down prices?

Yes, there wil be, but not so much as there's only one day closing. Most stores now reduce on the day, that's today's date. But, if they are closed an extra day, they don't want to opening with food that's already out of date. I think that Asda are deffinately getting tighter after jioning the Walmart group. Always check on the store's policy if you get charged the full price, and of course check your till reciept!"Excuse me, this expires today, will you be reducing it?"0

There were a lot of reductions in my local Sainsburys today which I didn't expect to see. Fruit and veg well down - to 10p in a lot of cases - huge quantities of greatly reduced meat and, of course, the inevitable big reductions on Christmas related stuff like chocs and tins of biscuits.0

I can tell you that the warehouse is closed on NYD as its the only day this week we all have off (if you discount Sunday 26th!)I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -
Sainsburys had manually reduced their sausagemeat to 19p today.....however for each one bought, because of a previous system reduction from original price of £1.69 to 50p, the till was still deducting £1.19 for each packet bought, so in effect, they were paying £1 to take it away ;D
On top of that, they were reducing joints of meat and packets of pork and lamb chops from around the £4.50-£5.00 mark to £1.49.
Reckon I got about £50 worth of meat for about a fiver0 -
