next step to being bankrupt

Hi,

Ive been on and off these boards for quite a while deciding what to do and have decided to go Bankrupt as advised by the CCCS years ago but I thought I would still try and pay some off, anyway this hasn't worked, my debts are donkeys years old I havne't any new debts really it all happened up to 4 years ago when i had trouble paying them because i was made redundant while pregnant, i have payed bits and pieces to each creditors but just recently last six months or so have not been able to pay them nothing, so anyway have finally managed to save up the £350 (hope this is enought im on income support) I have the forms indoors from the court and just need to start filling it all out now, does anyone have any advice cause some of these debts have gone from pillar to post to all different debt collectors, do I just give all the details I have for everything, most which is prob in the post box that Im to frightened to open mostof them time ?
thanks

    Hi. :)

That sounds like so many of us here, so don't worry.

You put the name of the original debt, and the add the name/address of who is asking for it now in the other boxes. The OR knows that these things get sold on, so it is not a big deal if the details are not quite right. You can sort it out later if needed.

If you are on IS then you should be exempt the £150 court fee, but you need to take proof of your claim valid in the last month I think.

thanks for the reply makes me feel a bit better it just all seems so daunting, also I wanted to ask I have a bank account with nationwide, but its just a basic account, I only have a cash point card, no debit card or cheque book or anything, all that gets paid into it is my benefits and all that goes out are my debts and DD will they freeze that account, will I have to open another basic account or do you think they will let me keep this one ?

    thanks

    Hi KMO1

You could call the Nationwide & ask the question but it is down to the OR who may well freeze the account as it is existing.

Be prepared to have to look elsewhere for basic account. Coop or Barclays seems friendly. Personally I have Coop because I need online banking (Barclays can be a bit hit & miss in that area..insider info:o:o!)

Before you declare make sure you get a list of standing orders/Direct debits so if the existing account is frozen then all you need to do is get new account & new mandates.

    Hope that helps,

thanks I will give nationwide a ring later on a see what they say, maybe worth opening another account as well just in case they do freeze it, i only worry about it being frozen because my benefits go into it, including my housing benefit which I then pay to my landlord
