Dobbiesloan, the op was only asking a genuine question as to what everyone else does with their free sims, there was no need to be rude about it. As a result I have reported your post to abuse.

Now it's me that is being thick. What part of my reply have you decided is rude? If you check you will see that loopyloulou thanked me for my reply. They asked me a question, I gave them an answer, they thanked me and you decicide I'm rude?:confused::confused::confused:

If you get one with a Golden Number you can sell it for a reasonable amount on E-Bay.

    Me neither.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

I work for a charity. A colleague is a debt worker and his clients are always being pursued by their creditors on their PAYG mobiles (none can get contracts). I give them sims so they can avoid being harrassed by their creditors.

Maybe O/T but I think that this is unacceptable. The debtors (your "friends") have spent money that they could not afford. Surely giving them a way to avoid the creditors/bailiffs is not helping them as they need to pay back the debt asap to avoid additional interest and charges. Also, note that our bank charges and high interest rates on loans etc are due to people like these not paying back debts.

You may disagree, but IMO there is no excuse for your and their behaviour.

Firstly, I work for the charity, they are not my friends, they are my colleagues clients.
Secondly, many people end up in these situations through no fault of their own. They could have lost jobs, had relationship breakdowns, they could be fleeing violence - there could be a number of reasons they find themseles in a difficult situation.
Thirdly, creditor harrassment is a fact and not a pleasant one. Creditors will phone 5 - 6 times a day, every day. It causes people stress and depression, making a very difficult situation worse and in no way helps the situation.

Please don't get high and mighty and preach about things you know either little or nothing about - the fact these people are seeing a debt caseworker is testement to the fact they want to address the issues and move on.

Finally, the reason we pay high interest rates on loans and excessive bank charges is greed by the financial institutions.

Come off it. Yes, hats off to these people for going and seeing a debt worker, but there would be no need for debt workers if people simply didn't spend money that they don't have. They have spent the money/accumilated these debts, and it is unreasonable to expect their creditors NOT to attempt the get their money back, by whatever means they see fit. Ash
