Lowell portfolio/Hamptons legal help please!

Hi there..

I was hoping that someone could help me please because i am at a loss..

Last year I received correspondence from Lowells chasing an old debt. As the debt was almost 6 years old, i was hoping that i could hold out and got for Statute Barred.

Eventually i got a letter from Hamptons legal who were threatening me with court action. (having looked at the letter etc it appears that hamptons are Lowell!).

I found some info on this site and sent Lowells the "I do not acknowledge any debt to your company" letter.. and have had nothing in return, so assumed that this was now over.

However i have just received a letter from Hamptons about an Interim Charging Order. The letter states that they have been in touch with the land registery and attached is a notice from the court.

The notice from the court states that on 4 June 09 the district judge park considered the application of the claimant. And that a judgement order was given on 16 October 08 ordering me to pay the money.

I have never had a letter to go to court, or anything from the court themselves.

Having read up on interim charges it says that i should have received notification about this 21 days prior to the court date - but i have only received the letter on 1 August and the case is at court tomorow (4 Aug).

As i mentioned before as i had sent the I do not acknowledge letter, and heard nothing, i thought that was it.

I have no idea what to do now. Can anyone please advise me?

  • Bumped as urgent.

I was thinking of faxing a copy of the letter i sent to Lowells to the court? Would this help?

    Thanks

    Hi

You should have had notice from the court of at least two hearings by the sound of it. Ring the court and ask them for detials then ring national Debt line.

try to get the case postponed and then go back and fight the previous orders.
