OP, ignore kriss_boy's comments, he has no idea what he is talking about.
Was your employer aware of your long term health issue? If so, you may have grounds for complaint. If you can let us know this, we'll find you more relevant info.Gone ... or have I?0 -

And thats why I specifically asked about the nature and frequency of the absenses to you patronisingly dismissed as irrelevant...
You then go on to say 'Some people I work with clearly abuse the system and appear to be off a lot at predicable times', which has implied to several other posters that you are relating this statement to the OP's situation (if this is not the case, then why say it?).
Louise22 stated that your own sickness record is irrelevant to the OP's situation. This is true.
Perhaps you should read what you write before posting, and consider how it may come across to other people?Gone ... or have I?0 -
People have different attitudes to sickness and thats a valid point. Just because it doesnt relate entirely to the OPs situation doesnt mean its not worth mentioning.
This is a discussion forum afterall and if we were to start a new topic for every single view we had thats slightly off topic then there would be quantity more than quality.
Jeez its hardly boasting to reveal you havent been off work in years. Do some people have such a feeling of inferiority that someones sickness record gets their back up.0 -

The OP is asking for help on her situation, not your general views on absence in the workplace. If you wish for a general discussion on the subject, feel free to start a thread in Discussion Time.Gone ... or have I?0 -

well some might say that by saying "not to blow my own trumpet...." during your post that you are actually blowing your own trumpet. people who say that always are......
anyway, well done. no sick days for you.:T0 -
thanks for the replies.
Well my employment got off to a bad start really, my grandad passed away and i was off for that (at the time they were sympathetic now they are using it against me) and I know people say a grandad doesnt count as immediate family but thats pathetic, he raised me along with my mother.
I was off when I pulled my back (in work) and could hardly move for a few days. Another time when my mum was rushed into hospital and then this one.
I know its unacceptable but there are people there who have been off alot more than me yet they havent even had a verbal warning. Thats the thing that annoys me.
I would never work in that place again to be honest I just feel wrongfully treated. However, i was there 11 months - 1 more and i would have some rights!0
