Car Finance

I bought a car 4 years ago on a car finance plan. Unfortunately before I could renew the insurance in December 2007 the car was burnt out , so I coudn't claim damages. Therefore I am still paying for the finance . During the time I have had the car, I have missed a few monthly payments, but paid them maybe 2-3 weeks afterwards.

However I recently got a statement from the company for the past 4 years and it showed charges for phone calls, ranging from £10 - £25 per call, for letters ranging from £7.50 - £35 per letter and other charges ranging upto £175. I currently pay the finance in a debt management scheme as I am now a student and cannot work full time.

The charges add up to around £1100. Can I claim these charges back? Any suggestions considered, please help.
