Hi
Have been invited next weekend to the directors box of a football game. Apparently the dress code is glam - and I've been told no jeans even smart ones. I don't have smart non work trousers - but a few options on dresses/skirts with some sky high heels!
My problem is keeping warm when we watch the game - i only really have a winter coat which I think would look wrong and be too warm. Usually when I wear my glam stuff I'm in a car/taxi so don't really have anything. I've got some pashminas but I don't thing they'd be warm or big enough to provide warmth when sat in the stadium and not moving. I went once before but that was winter and I remember it being pretty damn cold - and I think even next week it will be cold - as its undercover and shaded - especially given our current gloomy weather.
I'm allowing myself to spend something - so have given myself £30ish - but what should I buy?
Needs to provide warmth - but then look good with a dress and heels? I'm hoping that if I keep my top half warm and cosy - I can get away with bare legs (my posh shoes all seem to be peep toes so probably can't do tights)
Am really at a loss - little cardigans just don't seem like they'll keep me warm enough??? Can anyone give me a bright idea????
thanks in advance

I am not any fashionista but I do know that you can buy peep toe tights.
Might be worth calling the stadium to see if they have any heating in the box as well.
Personally I think I'd go the pashmina route but make it a big and warm one

A couple of years ago i bought a wrap from primark, it was like a wooly type of material, black with a fringe. I think it was £10. This has been my mainstay for going out on the town in winter. I feel it's warm but pretty smart. I pulled the label out so can't read what material it is, soz.
A pahmina sounds perfect to me!!

I'm absolutely sure those director's boxes are heated but as Belfastgirl23 says why not ring ahead just to check?
The tights you're after are called "sandal toe". They used to stock them in TK Maxx but I imagine most decent department stores would have them (Debenhams, House of Fraser, etc.,)
Also agree with the pashmina advice. Try looking on eBay for a UK listed Buy-It-Now and let the seller know you need it for next weekend. You should easily get one for under £30.
Have a fantastic time. xx0 -
I think you can see from indoors in most directors boxes.....0

Thanks guys - am currently googling for nice pashminas... Someone at work has said a blazer type jacket but I'm not sure I could get something like that for £30ish - or that it would feel particularly warm or cosy so a more woolly style of pashmina is my current search!
Have been before and you are sat outside - (maybe I haven't got the right 'name' - thats how its referred to by my friend who invited me) although with a nice indoor hospitality bit for before, half time and after - and I remember it being cold even with my winter coat and gloves!
thanks so far - and more suggestions appreciated!!!0 -
I would probably say look for a long 'waterfall' cardigan. Its almost like a pashmina or shawl because of the open draped shape but without the inconvenience of having to hold it. And because it's a cardigan and fitted to the body unlike pashiminas, it should keep you warmer.
There are loads around now like this one from M&S: http://www.marksandspencer.com/gp/product/B002AQUWHS/ref=pd_sbs_6/277-0361899-8215778?ie=UTF8&mnSBrand=core&pos=PDP_cwviv_1_image
I've also seen many in this seasons collections at Next, Debenhams, H&M and even New Look.
I needed to find something to wear over a dress for my sisters graduation last month. I had in my head exactly what I was after but didnt know what it was called or where to find it.... I eventually found the perfect one in H&M but have since seen loads because I think they've just come in properly this season.

Smart casual is the usual dress code for the directors box. I've been a few times and yes, it is heated. Be prepared for a fantastic lunch! Enjoy yourself.0

Lucky you, sounds like a great day, directors boxes are normally heated so you should be ok. I just had a couple of ideas, would you think about wearing peep toes with thick black tights, sounds odd but can be trendy looking also how about thermals? No one will know you have one on, they have been a life saver for me after moving to the coast from London. I'm not sure where you are but there is a great stall in Camden Market that sells trendy thermals, (yes they do exist:rotfl:) or M&S are good too, enjoy your day:)
Edit - Sorry, forgot to say a cami/vest top should cost under £10 so very MSE;)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -
Am I missing something? How cold can you get in the middle of August?0
