Not for me

By champanefrom suffolk on June 29, 2009 more_reviews_icon.gif (read all my reviews)

"Hoped this would be good, but I hated it
this for me is the worst iron I have ever tried
it made clothes too wet & did not give a good finish
I will keep to well known makes in the future."

LOVE IT!

"I was rather sceptical about this one because of the price, £49.99.
I got a Tobi Steamer at Christmas but was really disappointed with it. It was OK at getting light wrinkles out but no good at all with creases.
Just received the Steam Generator today and WOW!
Going on holiday next weekend so decided to start the ironing. FANTASTIC! It's so good I didn't want to stop. I NEVER thought I would say I enjoy ironing but with this it's a pleasure.
It takes about 8 minutes to heat up but after that it's brilliant.
Very lightweight iron, quiet boiler, excellent steam power. What more can I say other than I will NEVER go back to a normal steam iron.
FANTASTIC VALUE FOR MONEY
THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU"

Is it faulty, or is it me?

By topitallfrom Stafford, UK on April 25, 2009 more_reviews_icon.gif (read all my reviews)

"Having had a Polti iron for many years I so loved steam ironing that when it dropped on floor and broke I had to replace it, and this was my choice.

Well, having tried it, I am so dissapointed because it just wets everything through and I cannot get the finish that I am used too. I noted one other reviewer said the same thing and most of the others are positive, so I wonder if it is a faulty one. I will try for a replacement while it is still in stock.

Steam ironing is a breeze and I wouldn't do it any other way, but this model is definitely not working how I am used to...."

This one does look a bit "agricultural" - the cork handle is quaint!

Spec is not great - good one are capable of generating over 100g of steam per minute on less power.

Every now and again Lidl/Aldi sells more modern looking ones for less, or if you are lucky enough to have a branch of TJ Hughes nearby they often have the basic Morphy Richards ones for less than £50, which is approx half price compared to Argos.

I got the wife one last year and she finds it a lot quicker and easier to use.

Just don't do what I did and give it as a present on valentines day!

    :naughty:

My advice would be to wait until Aldi get their steam generator in again. We bought it last time they had it on offer. £59 with a 3 year warranty and 120g/m of steam. It's a bit of a monster as well as being a billy bargain. The wife wasn't sure at first but now wouldn't go back to 'normal' ironing.

HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??
  • well mine arrived yesterday and i've been ironing ever since - i know i'm sad but I think it is extremely good value for money:j

I've had the Tshcibo one for around 5 years now, I paid 49 quid for it and it had a 3 year guarantee, if it ever breaks I'll buy another. I'm an ironaholic, knickers, face cloths and socks etc :rotfl:
