    I've been Money Tipped!
Done mine too a few months back and got £12 BACK 'cos I'd paid tax on saving account interest!!!

I got £56 back last year from the cross over of TNS from employed to self-no lump sum to treat myself with this year though.

Don't spend your £12 all at once!

I'm the same. I have them all in my calendar, but I must remember to move them across to your beautiful spreadsheet!

i don't even have them on a calendar or in a diary. I just have them in my emails, somewhere, and have most (I hope!) of my receipts.

I had a call from the tax office today and I "sh*t bricks" for a moment (I'm not in trouble though, will post the reason for her call later this evening when I have more details)!!

And I *DID* update this information on the previous thread, as you can see from the post I copied into the first page of this thread - link: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=23888237&postcount=11

It's like rain on your wedding day
A free ride when you've already paid :T

And ... not gloating or anything ... but I've just checked that everything is entered into my spreadsheet, my diary is updated, and I've reconciled my bank account. I am waiting for over £600 in payments to come in - blimmin well need it with (1) Dad's 75th birthday (2) Son's 6th birthday (3) Our 10th wedding anniversary (4) Daughters 9th birthday and (5) a little thing called Christmas!

Oh and we've got 2 weekends away before Xmas as well - we're going to Southwold in Suffolk at Half term, and to Centerparcs for our anniversary/Megan's birthday weekend so I'm hoping that Gap release the coffee jobs in good time - there are at least 2 if not 3 coffee shops at Centerparcs!!!

    Nice one TG!

RE: Gyp's "error" (which they say is my fault, but hey-ho!), it looks like another MSing company have come to my rescue and paid my much much earlier for some work.

About the Coffee TG, maybe email Gyp and tell them that you'll be visiting, and are able to do these shops for them if they'd like? I'm no expert, but I'm assuming these shops would only be accessible to people staying at the place, so they may have difficulties finding people to do them. Worth a try.

Yes, I was thinking of doing that! Worth a try anyway!

  • Hey everyone, hope you're all happily MS'ing away!

I've got a bit of a dilemma - any help appreciated! I live and work in Town A, and usually do all my MS'ing here. However I've recently started a new course at uni in Town B, 70 miles away (140 mile round trip). It's only 1 day a week so I'm still living at home in Town A, just commuting to Town B on a Wednesday to go to my classes and coming home again that night. I'm going to try and do the odd MS job while I'm in Town B - not many, just the odd burger or sandwich so I can have a free lunch. My question is, how should I declare this for tax? Can I put 140 miles as my mileage for those jobs, or is that just ridiculous? I don't live in Town B, and I do have to travel those 140 miles to get there and do whatever MS I'm doing, and pay for petrol etc - but obviously I'm only doing the MS because I'm going there for uni anyway, not the other way round!

It would make a brilliant paper loss if I could count it :p but just a bit worried that if the tax people ever do ask to see my spreadsheets, would they question why I'm travelling 140 miles for a burger?! lol. Any advice appreciated x
