  • Hahaha! Really? Maybe we should become 'Starbuck buddies' what do ya say! :)

I didnt know you can get the syrups - is it the same one that they make the frappa's from? I know that you can get the drizzles (I have one at home!) and the flavor shots (Vanilla, caramel etc) from the supermarkets, but i didnt know about the base for the frappa's!

I am such a freak, I even got offered a job at Starbucks, when I was living in Canada. I wanted to do it becuse of the free 2lb coffee staff got per week. I didnt take the offer, because I got another job offer that paid much more! Damn! Now I am regreting it, esp. since now I cannot afford it!

    So did I!

You can buy bottles of the syrup in store to help make home made stuff taste more authentic.

So I got a gold cup top filter for my birthday (no faffing with papers :p)

Where can you get these from?

I would like one for work too as I use the one cup filters (in bulk from Costco making it 60p per cup)

I have massively cut back on my coffee drinking this year as it was getting ridiculous spending almost £10 per week on mine and OH coffee and cakes and sometimes getting a coffee and cake to take to work too.

I think you can get filter things from Lakeland https://www.lakeland.co.uk

I've just had a thought, you can get chilled coffee drinks in supermarkets, they're expensive but still cheaper than starbucks, maybe you could get some of those and a bottle of the flavour syrup?

  • Hehe...Ames, sounds like a good idea. Back in the US and even in Canada at the Starbuck's stores, if you use your own 'mug' (coffee flasks or 'thermus'?) you get a discount, because it saves them the money they spent on the to go cups. They should have that system here! Although in Canada, they have Starbucks rival - called 'Blends' and their coffee is really good, but not AS expensive as the Star. I havent seen them here, but again, back in the US you used to be able to purchase bottled Starbucks frappa's, but they wernt the same as the normal Frappa's, just tasted like standard cold coffee, but they were a lot cheaper and tasted good even if not the same as the original Frappa's! I think I need to do some investigating to see what exaclty is out there coffee wise, do some sums and convert. However I like to drink whilst I am out, for some reason I do not drink coffee whilst at home - I almost NEVER made coffee at home! I think for me its phychological... something to keep me busy whilst walking or to keep me awake whilst working, or when I am in the office (I volunteer two days a week) I use it to get away from the desk, by making a coffee. Its a good excuse get away from the desk for a little and to rest my eyes from the computer for a bit.

They do have that system here, you get 20p off I think. I've never used it, but there's a little notice about it on the bottom of the menu.

I notice this site also sells frappe bases in powder form. Might be worth a look, make one up before you leave the house and take it with you sometimes and then as someone else said allow yourself one REAL one once a week.
  • I went into Starbucks today and I was happy to see the small print on those boards.... you get 25p off for bring in your own mug. I guess I will be carrying around my Starbucks branded flask around with me then.... :)
