Anybody know if you can marry quickly without the advance notice 15 clear days. I have been told you can in 72hrs but can't find it anywhere.
Not as wreckless as it sounds someboby who was to marry next year wants to bring it forward because other half armed forces going overseas.

Contact either your local register office or GRO (general register office),
www.gro.gov.uk
although you are quite right that 15 days notice is the norm, in exceptional circumstances like this a special license can be issued. They will be accommodating wherever possible with forces personnel. (quite rightly so!)
It is better to speak to them directly tomorrow morning and they will assist in getting the ball rolling.
Good luck.0 -

The register office will be able to advise as in some cases (usually for the terminally ill) you can get a special licence, for every other case then you give 15 days notice.0

Nothing has changed in recent years in England, can't speak for Scotland I'm afraid.
Under 'normal' circumstances, 15 clear days must pass before you give notice before a legal marriage can take place.
Because of the obvious emergencies which can arise in life, the General Registrar will grant a special licence on application, if it is deemed to be exceptional circumstances. There were loads issued during WW2. Most common are in the case of terminal illness or service personnel. Just to illustrate, I would be astounded if special licence was issued if you decided last minute to tie in your wedding with a prebooked holiday, for example.
If in doubt ask, they can only say no.0
