Wilsons in court again

Surely accidental damage should be covered by the landlords insurance anyway? Both Towergate and Legal & General (two leading BTL insurers) automatically cover accidental damage to sanitoryware.
So either the wilsons are trying to claim twice or they haven't got appropriate insurance.
Ah but that would almost be suggesting that the Wilsons are criminals, no?;)0 -
The property concerned in Spence Close Hawkinge, has a probable current value of £125000 to £150000. It is quite an ordinary semi detached house, in an area which is not particularly sought after.
Peach bathroom suites are probably the norm, as are Mocha, Avocado and Baby Blue.0 -
Probably a sign of their current financial position. I'm sure a few years ago when they were wasting copious amounts of money on three legged race horses, £3k wouldn't have been worth the bother on a claim they had a 50% chance at best of winning.
Now it looks like they're scraping the barrell for those last few pence to pay those hefty mortgage interest charges.0 -

The clue is in the word PEACH, it would have been fitted when the house was new and another clue would be in the word DISCONTINUED.0 -
I have a peach bathroom suite with the cistern lid in perfect order --- I am wondering if there is an opportunity here - perhaps a listing on ebay ....

Sticking my head in the noose clearly, but it's well established that tenants are responsible for any damage they do, and rightly so.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

The article states that the range has been 'discontinued', which suggests that it's a relatively new installation (if it was 50 years old, they wouldn't have needed to mention that it had been discontinued), so it does make me think that the Wilsons have a decent case.
Why should they put up with having a mismatched bathroom set, it certainly wasn't the Wilson's fault that the tenants broke the lid. £3k is probably quite reasonable to have a bathroom removed and a new one refitted - and we're not talking top of the range suite here either.
If I rented out a property, I wouldn't want it to deteriorate over time with mismatched fixtures and fittings. Wear and tear is one thing, but damage is another. Had the couple found a replacement lid then the Wilsons would have happily let them simply replace that.
Like to think im an easy going chap, balanced views ,but If someone has a buy to let then any sensible person would factor in the need for maintenance etc within the rent they charge.
So ,yes I think Harrys having a giraffe.....:D or he's hit the sauce bottle.0 -

Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.
