It's now been taken off the site - wonder what they're thinking?!!0

I think the biggest problem for everyone is that it is currently showing as out of stock and pretty much has been for the whole time.
If they can't get it, they can't get it can they? :-/
(Although I do appreciate the theory of "Loss of Bargain" and the situation where Virgin offered the pay the difference for the Gamecube bundle)
Also, are there that many copies of Futurama Box Set out there ???
There must be at least hundreds, if not thousands of orders pending, so I doubt it's going to encourage WHSmith to honour them. Maybe they'll take the Amazon route and just send out to those that have ordered 1. Although most people seemed to have cottoned on that they are 'more likely' to get it if they only order 1/2. :-/0 -
As this thread has been viewed 6577 times, assuming average of 1 purchase per view, they're probably thinking that they had better hide the page as they've received orders that will lose them around £300,000 if they honour them, which, of course, they won't.
I can just picture the conversation:
"Boss, we sold the 25 boxed sets we had at a loss of £1500, can we order another 6500 or so copies to fulfill the website orders?"
"Excellent, we've had that many orders. I didn't realise so many people loved Futurama. How much will we make from that?"
"Oh, we'll only lose a cool third of a million"
"Oh...where's the webmaster's P45?"British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

I don't think that the loss would be quite so bad as people make out. Amazon are sellling this for £55 and obviously still making a profit. I think that they will honour it personally!0 -
Just ordered mine. Here's hoping. The single box sets are on offer @ £14.99 BOGOF at my local ScreenTraders (Chatham) so may buy them just incase.something missing0

In anticipation of the orders not being honoured, PM me with your email addy for a copy of the original web page.
As WH Smith are making massive losses at the moment (year to end 8/04 £135 million loss) anyway, I don't think they will deliberately add to those losses by honouring these orders!British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

I take this back! Just been told that they are NOT honouring any orders as they cannot get further supplies of the box set from their suppliers! Porkies?!0 -
