Ok this might be a bit of an obvious answer, but if my BR stays on my credit files for 6 years when is this from, is it from the date of BR or date of discharge?
And i have been reading about some groups wanting to get the 6 years down to 3 like some of our european counterparts, whats people views on this? Surely it would make us BRs and others with credit problems easier to start a fresh but have read somewhere that some people dont think it should be any easier...! whats the chances of it happening?

There is a petition going around to get the current 6 years down to 3. I have seen it in the forums possibly the credit card forum.
Also Fermi posted an article (cant remember which forum i read this) about the same subject stating that CAB recommends the new proposal.

That is to do with Limitation periods (how long a creditor has to take you to court), not how long things can stay on your credit reference files for. Here's the link, haven't read it all but thought the 6 to 3 year reduction CAB was supporting was in staute barred debts?
