Help with IPOQ after wage rise

Hello there, i wonder if u can help me with the IPOQ i've received since I informed the RTLU of my wage rise. Went BR in Dec 08 and been paying an IPA since then. When i did my SOA originally i didn't think of all things i actually need to pay for...as a result it has been quite hard going and i'm looking forward to having the real costs altered for my IPA if possible - (i forgot stuff like toiletries, holiday expenses!)

I pay 160 to get to work on the tube but also pay 160 for a car as it is my brother's and we had agreed (2 yrs ago) that I would take over the finance payments on it. He wants the car back eventually but doesn't want to pay for a the moment - he was made redundant and cannot afford it. Plus it is very beneficial to me to get to the station to get to work and occasionally for work meetings etc - It wasn't allowed on my original IPA but the examiner suggested at the time that I use my money left over (after paying the IPA) to pay for the car anyway! I have, and will again, explain this to the examiner.

I am living at home but trying to contribute as much as I can to the bills. I do not feel that I should put down that I have 'dependants', but over the last 6 months my father was made redundant and has been asking for a better contribution to the rent and the bills.

So, I've worked on my expenses for the IPOQ and it comes out with even less surplus than before despite my wage rise. However I do believe this is absolutely true and i'm being as honest as I can be, after all, 6 months after being BR and i still have NO money to save.

Below are my expenses for the IPOQ. Any helpful comments would be appreciated.

Yours, Stephen

    Hi Stephen :hello:

It might be helpful to plug all your details into here:

    http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html

This will possibly give you some ideas for additional expenses. I would also suggest going through your bank statements and seeing where you have spent your money - then you can clearly see what you forgot on your original SOA.

Confused a bit by fines?? Ideas include contents insurance but as I say, using the online calculator may give you some ideas.

Once you have completed this, post it here and we can tweak it for you :)

  • Thanks Merry, I did use the calculator in working out but would prefer to keep it in the same format as the IPOQ...

Clothing incl. Work clothing 60 Think average is £50 but keep at £60 and see what happens
Maintenance Payments (home & car) 175 What is this?
    Fines 15 What is this?
    Other

    internet for work 10
    holiday 28
Medical (toiletries, prescriptions, dentist etc) 25 Toiletries will come out of housekeeping
    Haircut 10
Car insurance 32 On top of travel expenses and maintenance payments, OR might think your travel is way too high and reduce

    Surplus 330

Can you come back on the items that I;m not sure are?

    Thanks

The travel expenses of £320, is this the £160 +£160 as you staed that you agreed with the examiner that the £160 for your brothers car was not to be included as an essential expense
Hi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

  • Hi there, yes the 320 is tube plus car - the 160 for the car i was originally not allowed.

As i said before the examiner that initially interviewed me suggested that i paid for the car out of the money i had left after paying the IPA - exactly 160. I have had no choice but to keep paying for it anyway.

Back to the expenses - Housekeeping, i originally had 250 so i'm only bumping it up £45...after all I'm being honest. Maintenance payments on home and car include 100 management charge on home & property, repairs in the house, maintenance on the car (repairs, mot, tax disc)..Fines are asked for on the IPOQ so I've put down 15 as I have got about 2 parking tickets a year...

I feel that i can only put the truth and if the want to cut me down on certain things then i'll have to make some more sacrifices until the end of this ordeal.
