What are you going to buy a house with? I mean if at 19 with, with disposable income of £1K a month, you can still get into £5k of debt? You are NEVER going to have it as easy (financially) as you do now, and if you can't save now, you never will.
I'm sorry to be blunt, but if you see yourself buying a house in the future, you really need to be changing your attitude to money now. It's only going to get harder, and the excuses will get even more compelling.
By all means go and get yourself a loan and treat yourself now. You are an adult, that's your choice. But don't be kidding yourself about buying houses in the future.0 -
Is this a spur of the moment decision to get a bike or have you be wanting this for a while. With over £900 disposable income every month you do not appear to have any savings so where is it going?0

The reason i have no savings is because i have just got myself organised car wise.
I had an unreliable car until recently when i spent all my savings on a reliable one, i have then had to pay for insurance (which isnt cheap on a decent car at my age).
I have wanted to buy this model of bike for about a year but got the above sorted out first, now this gem has come up (trust me, nothing in the past year has matched how good this bike is) i want to get it now. If that means a short 2 year loan then thats what it means.
Tbh, i aren't even thinking of buying a house yet, its a long time away.0 -
I have a 53 reg bike that I bought in oct 2003, passed my car test in feb 2004 and never used the bike since.0

On the other hand if the op gets rid of their car it can be their main method of transport. I have a suZuki gladius which takes me anywhere I want to go
but I don't have a car and I find insurance is cheaper as I am a girl on a bike rather than for a car.
But having a bike and a car is a big waste of money so just don't do it if you are trying to save up for a houseKavanne
Nuns! Nuns! Reverse!

but i was also living on my own and did splash out on expensive foods.
i'll say i had my "fun" whilst it lasted and i then learnt what it was like to be skint for 7 months solid with out a job so i've buckled up and started to budget things out properly - even down to how much i'm gettin paid to the penny just so i know what is left every month.
but i can understand and think that you've done well as you've already sed b4 that you've saved up and sorted a car out which is something i wish i had done.0
