Car Payment from OR

Our friend purchased our car from the OR, the OR has confirmed we have a £2k allowance. The OR has said we have to find a car at a garage they will pay the garage, is this normal?, anybody had experience of this, as this would appear to rule out being able to buy a car from eBay.

It's normal.
They will appoint agents who will take the car and sell at auction. Same agents will then go the garage where you have found car and pay over the money, and then remit balance to OR.0 -
