Can't save to desktop.

I have a Samsung NC10, which I love but for some reason the past few weeks I can't save any files to the desktop, if I do, they don't show up on the desktop, I have to go to
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Desktop
Anyone know how I can get it to save to the actual desktop like it used to?

Right-click an empty area of the desktop, select Arrange Icons By and make sure there's a tick next to Show Desktop Icons.0
