    Hi Mark, welcome to DFW

You may not be able to get the default removed, if it was entered because you didn't make payments in accordance with your agreement (usually a default is registered between 3 & 6 months after the agreement is broken.

What is the current situation with this debt? Have your repaid it since the default? Are Activ Kap chasing your for the debt?

The default will drop off your report after 6years.

  • Hi
Sorry to say but you wont get the default taken off and it is at the discretion of the original lender who issued the default. Sometimes lenders will remove the default once the debt is repaid, but 999 times out of 1000 they point blank refuse.
The agreement you had in place with Barclays was broken by non-payment and so unfortunately they are in their rights to issue a default. It is very rare for them in these circumstances to remove defaults once they have been passed over.
  • Hi again
Ive just read the article and it seems a long shot. As most default notices are computer driven, I think you might have a job convincing Barclays that you never received one. The article also states that you can acquire a signed copy of the default notice that was sent to you.
That would be a new one on me, as default notices, as I said, are computer driven and just a standard form. You would normally have a letter to say a default notice was imminent if you didn't pay and then the notification is a few weeks later.
