    My iron is quite noisy. I like to iron in front of the TV to something like mamma mia / phantom of the opera and sometimes I have to turn the tv up really loud to [STRIKE]cover my singing[/STRIKE] be able to hear it, so it might be worth looking at how noisy the irons are too.
    The different models are a nuisance, if you've settled on a 'shortlist' could the manufacturers' website/s help? When we were looking for a dishwasher I sort of chose a Zanussi one, and went onto the Zanussi website which kind of grouped models that were the same together.

    PS I believe that the use of DVDs to help with the ironing is optional.

    Well done on cutting down on the fags. It must be hard- my mum gave up three years ago and still buys fag tablets as she misses them.

    Asda do the best ones apparently and are very cheap.

    As for ironing, i find it relaxing but have been on an iron strike as no one puts theirs away properly. So i just do my own now..:) Very time saving.

    I don't honestly know, mine is a Phillips that we got for £20 when they were over £100 from Phillips - but - that was over a year ago and I bet they've improved hugely since. Cuts down the ironing from 2 hrs to less than 1 though!
