Glasgow Flyer/Taxi??
Options
Hey All
Just looking for some quick advice, I'm head to glasgow tomorrow and was wondering is it easier just to get a taxi from the airport to the city centre or is the Glasgow Flyer reliable enough? Roughly how long would each of them take? And roughly how much would a taxi be from the airport to West George Street.
Many Thanks in advance!!

A taxi would cost a fair bit! I can't imagine the bus being that bad, have a look at the timetables? Maybe get a taxi from the bus station to west george if you are quite far along.
There are airport bus links to Paisley Gilmore Street station as well i'm sure then hop on the train to Central Station.0 -
Buses to the City centre are reliable and frequent.
I cannot remember the name of the Taxi company that picks up from immediately outside of the airport, but they are overpriced compared to regular taxis, they hold a monopoly as they are the only company allowed to park immediately outside the airport, other taxis are only allowed to pick you up at the other side of the multi storey car parking, so buses are the most convenient.0 -
a taxi will cost around £25, theres no way its even worth that. the flyer or any other bus heading that way outside the main terminal will take you to the city centre for much much less....work permit granted!0

the bus shoud be fine but you could take the phone number of a minicab company with you as backup and only use it if the bus disappoints. (it would still be around £15 that way)
it would be cheaper than a black cab or the white renfrew ones (they have to cross boundaries to get to glasgow)0 -
Flyer is every 10 minutes day and night and costs £4.20 one way
Black cab taxi costs £30 to Geroge Square, more if you want to go further east0 -
Get the bus!
I get the bus all the time and if there are any problems on the road, the drivers contact each other by radio so they can detour.0 -
Get the Bus but take care some you need correct change. I think the First bus no 757 is the one you want. The 747 goes through Partick so a bit of a detour. Bus stops in the middle of the road bus stop numbers are well signposted. Taxis a fortune safe journey0

Bit late but for future reference the Flyer is the best way as the First buses whilst cheaper stop more and are only good for the west end.
You can get a train into Glasgow- it is 5 minutes or so on a bus link to Paisley and 10-15mins on the train to Central. Through tickets are available or were available.
If I was getting a taxi, I'd ignore the ranks and phone Paisley Cab Company who are the local mini-cabs and should be far cheaper than a black or airport taxi.0
