PEUGEOT CAR FINANCE - beware
Excess Mileage More than £1100 )
0.42p per mile but when more than 30% over the 18,000 miles designated charge is increased to 0.84p per mile
Wear and Tear More than £1000
Total Bill more than £2000 (Bill has been reduced by £400
to date as goodwill gesture _ not sure where the goodwill is!)
My daughter purchased a new Peugeot 107 3 years ago for just over £6000 via Peugeot Finance Deal. She had the opportunity of handing back the car last month (3 years up) which she did but was subsequently billed with excess charges for mileage and wear and tear amounting to over £2000. Some of which she is contesting but the bill for excess charges for a car which was returned in almost showroom condition with under 35,000 miles on the clock appears a total rip off by PEUGEOT FINANCE. She has been charged for a known Peugeot fault for the car (not painting under the bonnet) and car history (she was handed all the accounts for servicing the car when car uplifted and finance company charged £275 for this aspect alone)
She was not advised either prior to pick-up or on date of pickup that these charges would be billed for. If she had known extent of charges she would have arranged to buy car for £4000.
Peugeot have referred to small print of finance document which I admit my daughter should have had a lawyer look over prior to signing. However young people buying their first car can be very influenced by Car Salesmen.
I have created a website with the dialogue with Peugeot Finance should anyone else wish to see the detail.
PLEASE BEWARE OF THESE CHARGES WITH ANY AGREEMENT YOU MAY HAVE OR MAY BE ENDING
In view of the above I would never ever recommend a PEUGEOT CAR with their finance deal with excessive charges included in the small print
Yours
A mother who probably has to pick up these charges and daughter who will be paying back to me for quite a few months as well as the charges for her new car.

ah so she signed up for 6,000 miles a year to keep the monthly payments lower then did closer to 12,000 miles a year.I beep for Robins - Beep Beep
& Choo Choo for trains!!0 -
All of these type of deals have mileage restrictions. It does not require a lawyer to find them on the contract and they can sometimes be negotiated. I think your daughter has been rather silly and has now had to pay the price. Hopefully it is a lesson she will remember. NEVER SIGN ANYTHING WITHOUT READING IT.0

I'm amazed that she didn't realise that she would have to pay extra charges if she exceeded her agreed number of miles. This is industry standard, and 42p per mile is about right. Surely she saw this coming? Did she really not read the terms and conditions before she signed them? You don't have to run this through a lawyer - it is bog standard, and Peugeot is not some fly-by-night outfit.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

Peugeot are no different to any other manufacturer, therefore if your rant is taken to its extreme, you would never recommend ANY car. Does that mean that we must all get the bus from now on?
Their excess mileage charges are designed to cover THEIR losses due to the additional depreciation created, over and above what would have been built into the original agreement.
And you are creating a website about this? Christ, what sort of nation are we becoming!!!???0 -
I agree with the above posters but I simply can't see how she can be charged for the car bonnet not being painted on the underside.

Was it on a recall she failed to obey the request to take it back in??0 -
Painting under car bonnet...should not get charged for that. But as regarding the mileage then it is clearly stated on T&C, so of course if she has done 35,000 miles instead of 18,000, there is a bit of a gap. She would have been probably better off keeping the car now0
