Experian etc

does being an additional card holder on someones account make you financially associated with them. bearing in mind that it is not a joint account?

thanks

Yes, it can. Many banks now ask for full details on the additional cardholder and perfrom a credit and fraud prevention check on them. This is to protect the bank and you, as they dont want the additional cardholder running up a debt and disappearing then you defaulting on it due to lack of funds and not knowing you are the only one liable for it.

Edit: I have seen application forms were this is now explicitly stated, I know people on here have said in the past they have used their pets name and got a card without a problem but the system has changed.

i was an additional card holder on my mums account but she is not showing as an association on my credit files does this mean that we weren't linked, and they did no checks on me.

Yep, I think so. As you would have had to give the information, it is roughly the same stuff the look for from the primary cardholder such as time at address, income, other cards etc. and get your consent to credit check you.
