Having to pay the baliffs for someone elses mistake

Options
Hello everyone,

My partner has just received some letters from the bailiff claiming that she has to pay almost £200 from a £16 purchase from 3 years ago.

To cut a long story short these letters have been forwarded on her from previous addresses and despite informing Argos (the card) of these changes of addresses she had never received a bill from them in this period. As far as was concerned the account was closed.

She has paid the balance for piece of mind but is there anyway that she can get this money back? Its not her fault and this is large some of money that has been very upsetting.

Does she have any options in-order to get this balance back?

Thanks

This will be a lot more difficult to deal with since she has paid them

    However, the starting point is

    1. She must have not paid a CCJ. She could have had the CCJ overturned because she was not given the opportunity to pay the outstanding debt. She need to get advice as to whether she can still do this having paid the bailiff.

    2. There may have been additional court costs which were added. There is probably little scope to recalim these now.

    3. There is good chance that the bailiff has added illegal charges, which she can reclaim.

Does she have any breakdown of the charges added to the account.
