which to use - credit card or overdraft?

There is no doubt about it, I need 2 new tyres for my car, just how to pay for them, credit card or overdraft?

June is a 5 week month so I will get an extra weeks pay (technically) so I will be able to clear the tyres payment soon, I just think I need them sooner than June.

There may be cheaper tyres available at https://www.mytyres.net and https://www.blackcircles.com (no connection to either apart from being a customer)

Doesn't answer you original question, but may save a few quid.

Doesn't it rather depend on the interest you are charged on your card or your overdraft? I have an LTSB account that charges 19.6%, and a Halifax card that charges 0% (for the time being). I bought a pair of tyres at the weekend - no prizes for guessing how I paid.

My overdraft is currently 0% apr, but that is cos I pay £10 a month for the priviledge (still in the first 90 days of that & intend to cancel, I kinda felt pressured into it when I was asking about loans)

My cards are around the 15% mark. Overdraft when no paying for the priviledge is around 3%. I know overdraft is the better option, but I am NEVER now in my overdraft & I really really don't want to be which is why I was asking for advice.

No quite sure I understand how this works - you pay £10 a month so you can have a free overdraft?? However, if your overdraft is charging less than your cards, then what's the problem? Unless you enjoy paying interest to your cc company? ;)

I'm quite fussy where I take my car. Hate local garages coz they just tend to screw it up. I prefer to use Kwik Fit but they are more expensive. Anyway I needed 4 new tyres and they were £100 a piece, plus balancing and tracking!

Anyway I phoned around and could get the tyres for £55 balanced from the local garages. Phoned Kwik Fit and they price matched. Only had to pay the tracking on top of that! :D

The morla of this story? Shop around! ;)

I'm gonna try ATS euromaster, they are on the same road that I work on, so I can leave the car there while I work & collect it later in the day (no boss in so I can nip down for it). But if they are really expensive I will hold off & try elsewhere
