grant money

just got my grant and after course fees are paid will have about 450 left. I intend to keep hold of this to pay for educational incidentials, paper, printer cartridges, additional travel to college and books etc.

When I go br in august will they just take this 450 off me?

Cheers

no grant is just a grant it is not class as income it is for you to pay your course fee and course expenses, i assume that you will have to buy books , stationery etc etc.. ... .

my other half had a grant for his coursewith the OU and the Or was not even interested in it ..... you will be ok.

    enjoy your course.

    Hi Larzie,

I am about to start uni this sept and have applied for grants, I contacted the debt charities and was told that after priorities if there was anything left they could request some money from me, I explained that I am not sure how much ink I will use etc etc, but they said there is the chance they could ask for some money, I asked the CCCS counsellor the same question on the subjects page here and she told me the same, dont me to dishearten you of course, but I am in the same position, if you have any more info let me know, as I am concerned about this too, thanks

Grant money is for your educational needs it does not count as income. Under the old family credit system it did not count against top ups not sure about tax credits though.
