I haven't started an official DMP, but hope to start my own, so I can try and sort things out. It's even harder for me, as my disability affects how I spend and use money, so that is pretty scary, especially when I have no control over it.

When I had no control (and was able to work) I ran up my overdraft and a Capital One card. It's only £360-£370, but when you're a student with very little money, it seems a LOT.

Mainly, it's my condition. I have Borderline Personality Disorder and I spend money in very disordered ways, But I know that it needs to stop. I need to clear my debts and also to start saving to put together a deposit for when me and the boy get our own place. At the moment, I get:

-£260 every 4 weeks DLA
-£210 every 2 weeks Incap Ben
-£60-100 per fortnight from the little work I am allowed to do.

I know in September I'll get my student loans and such but I don't really want to have to use those to pay off a debt (or not all of it)

Currently my debts are:
-£180 and change from Capital One
-£188 and change with Halifax.

I am on a low income, and I still have to pay for rent and necessitities (prescriptions, food, clothing, cigarettes-these are an essential as it's better for me to be on them and use them as a crutch then give up until I can handle it, film magazine subscription - am a film student and pay £20 every 6 months to keep up to date with developments)

I am considering how much to offer both companies for payments. At the moment I am considering £10 a month until I get more money in (and cannot make the first payment until my money goes in later this week, as it leaves me short) and upping it when I can. Are they likely to agree to this?

EDIT: Add another from 3 which came this morning for £80. They're going to get offered £5 a month until I can afford more.

**SPC 2012 #1498 -£152 and 1499 ***
I do it all because I'm scared.

Ok, just got off the phone to Red, who deal with 3. Supposedly I owe them £80, but I don't know from where, since my last account with them was paid up.

I managed (after wrangling with them) and refusing to give an email or contant phone number (as I know I don't have to and I prefer to deal with things by mail) to set up my first creditor getting payments of £5 a month, and I can pay more as and when I have it (hopefully a little more at the end of the month, which would help) So, I'm 1/3 of the way through, and I REALLY need to get another folder for my financial stuff, or I'm going to lose it.

do you not get help with prescriptions as you are on benefits?
Also there is a letter on here that you can send to Red asking for proof of the debt to 3 as they need to prove that you do owe this if you are not sure - hopefully someone will find it for you.
    Oh and hello and welcome.
