Hope someone can help. Have an outstanding NATWEST balance of 4000£ which has been passed to Allied International Credit.
I called up to make a payment agreement of 10%, £407 per month but was told that Natwest have instructed them to receive final payment now of around 3000£ or the account will be going to the courts.
I am pretty worked up about this because I only earn 790£ before tax a month and the 10% offer was the most I could make but there not interested. They want me to try and raise the funds. I can't get the money of any family and friends and my credit rating is shot, so I can't see anyway of raising the money.
What can I do? Are the guys playing the game or is it true that there just doing there jobs and Natwest want a settlement? I have to phone up next week again.
I really don't want this to go to courts, Is there anyway of getting another agency to buy the debt at the discount price and pay the full amount off as there profit????
Please Help Thanks!

Hi
It is totally illegal for AIC to suggest that you raise money from someone else or to demand payment sthat are unrealistic. Both contrave OFT Guidelines and need reporting.
They are bullies and you need to stop talking to them and insist all communication is in writing. Not least becuase they will be rather more careful what they say in writing. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Read the Debt Collection Guidelines laid down by the Office of Fair Trading:
http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/bus...dit/oft664.pdf
There are a lot of different response letters for harassment by telephone floating around. Send this registered post so that you can prove they recieved it.
This is just one example posted by fermi:

Dear Sirs,
Harassment by telephone
Account Number: XXXXXXX
I am writing in relation to the quantity and frequency of telephone calls that I have received from your company, which I deem to be personally harassing.
I have verbally requested that these stop, but I am still receiving calls. (Delete if necessary)
I now require all further correspondence from your company to be made in writing only.
I am of the view that your continued harassment of me by telephone puts you in breach of The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, and the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.
If you continue to harass me by telephone, you will also be in breach of the Communications Act (2003) s.127 and I will report you to OFCOM, Trading Standards and The Office of Fair Trading, meaning that you will be liable to a substantial fine.
Please treat this also as a formal complaint, and send me a copy of your company complaints procedure.
Be advised that any further telephone calls from your company will be recorded. (**Even if you don‘t yet have recording equipment!!**)
Yours faithfully,

Are you sure you can afford to pay £407 per month?
Do a real Statement of affairs, see what is available to pay the debt and ONLY pay them what YOU can afford. Make a payment based on this and keep paying that amount no matter what the threats are. If they are stupid enough to take you to court the court will only make a judgement on what you can afford to pay anyway and they know this. They are just bullying you.
Do not talk to them on the phone ever. Insist on everything in writing as is you right.I'm Debt Free :j 2/09/2013

Thanks for the replies. After my phone call today I was on phone with another agency to come to an arrangement for a much smaller debt. Bascially ended up talking to them about AIC the whole conversation. They seem fine to let me contact them again in a few weeks to see how the situation with AIC turns out, but they also said that they felt AIC should of giving me other options than to demand I raise the cash to pay them off.
I have had multiple debts yet they have been paid over time and next week sees the small minor debts out of the way. Debts build up over unemploymentn late last year. I could at maximum pay of 400£ a month to one creditor and that would be AIC as its the giant debt that I have. I basically have not spent one penny on myself this year, just the essentials food bill and household bills and the rest around 500£ a month towards my debts but at the cost of making slow progress on the Natwest account, as the smaller debts needed to be clear first to try and get my head above water.
I will write to them next week. Any advice on what to send would be appreciated such as should I include a budget?
Will also report back the responses on this thread.
Thanks
