Threating call from Cygnet Finance

Well after my advice post yesterday regarding my car from Cygnet Finance, they sent me a default notice yesterday saying i had until 12th August to pay the monthly payment or they would proceed with legal proceedings.

I then received a call from a lovely (not) man from cygnet trying to bully in to paying the monthly payment by tomorrow or they would come and get the car. After him trying to bully me for 10 minutes he gave up and we left it that.

I was worried we wouldn't have a car for our camping weekend on 22nd August, but i have looked at hiring one for 3 days and it is farely cheap, so i am not to worried about them taking the car now. The insurance is due next friday so i am thinking i might cancel it and not drive the car, it will save us £80 that we can put towards the bankrupcy fee.

Its scary to think that people who don't know how to deal with these people do get bullied in to paying something they really can't afford.

Sorry forgot to ask, how do people cope without a car. My husband only passed his test 2 years ago, but for the last 2 years we have relied on a car for shopping and things. I can't imagine what it will be like to use public transport. We obviously did for 8 years of our lives together but that seems such along time ago.

Hopefully by xmas we might have saved enough to buy a cheap run around.

My OH has a car bought post BR ( she has nothing to do with my BR) I very rarely use it, I prefer my push bike which has a modified supermarket basket attached to my rear bike rack. I will be off out on it shortly to do some shopping. Luckily we live within 1 mile of all the shopping centres and main town, with cycle paths galore and nice rivers and lakes to look at. I also have all the gear for winter cycling including waterproof and high viz clothing. I get to keep fit in the bargain:cool:
