Paying back student overdraft!

  • you have broken up! i used to break up at end of june. Sign up with an agency and you will have work easily. Dont you have loans and grants - i used to pay my grant and loan into my account.
In answer to your question if you cant afford the £80 then simply pop into the branch and tell them! you got to be honest with people - tell them you are willing to pay back but £80 is too much etc and take it from there - Best to talk to them.

I agree, talk to them. But be careful they do not force you to take out another loan to clear the od. So do not sign anything. This is a common trick with the banks used on finishing students to collect ods. When dealing with a bank, remember they are not there to help you.
  • To whom this may concern,

I have recently had my overdraft facility taken away on my ‘Student Account’ and have now been set up with a payment plan to repay the remaining outstanding balance of the overdraft.
The agreement was to pay £80 on the 29th of each month, yet due to a change in circumstances I wish to change this agreement to something more manageable and realistic for me. I am still a student with one year of fulltime studying and therefore will not be in employment. This will make the payment of £80 a month into the account very hard for me, so to make sure this agreement is not broken, I would like to change the monthly payment from £80 to £25. This change will make it a lot easier for me to make the payments into the account.
I would like to emphasize that I am not happy that the overdraft was taken away even though I am still in university education and I had been funding the account in the last few months, yet if the decision of taking the overdraft away is final, then the least you can do is change the repayment agreement to £25. If my circumstances change in the near future, I will be able to make other payments along with the £25 to help clear the outstanding balance.

I look forward to hearing from you, please reply to the address stated at the top of this letter.
  • so you decided not to talk to them? fingers crossed you get it sorted!!
