Travel agent franchise from home.

Does anyone have or know of anyone with any experience of 'buying' a travel agent franchise. I am looking into setting one up from home. It looks like the initial set up cost is about £12000.
If anyone could offer any thoughts I'd appreciate it.

My initial thought would be what do you get for £12000? If you are doing this from home then apart from computer/phone/printer/fax what other start up costs are there?
In the very early days of the Internet, none of my colleagues, family or friends were online. They used to ask me to arrange cheap holidays for them because they realised I could do it cheaper than travel agents.
I just wonder what you would get for £12000 that you couldn't do for yourself.0 -

I believe they insist that you have ABTA experience and qualifications. I used to work for a Travel Agency that was part of a consortium (the cheapest way of having an ATOL) and the manager also used to sell a specific type of tailor made holidays from home/ clients home under the same licence.0 -
I think the initial set up includes a 2 week training course and bonding/insurance from the necessary agencies, as well as all the software requirements and access to discounted products.0
