The woman at the post office told me it was completely covered with special delivery as the cost of that particular biscuit wrapper was £500

She was wrong - its the value of the contents. It's not like a lottery ticket where the ticket is worth that amount because it is a winner. Your biscuit wrapper is worth nothing on it's own.

Have a read on the royal mail website - its quite clear. Having said that - it is unlikely it would go missing, but not impossible.

No because you could track it and it was unlikely to go missing. In the unlikely event that it didn't turn up or the contents were missing (not unheard of) you wouldn't have got the prize money.
  • Right, I'm off. Good luck everyone!! See you this evening!

I've had a think about this and suspect it's because they get the impression that the wrapper is like a lottery ticket, so they are assuming you have a wrapper open it and it says you have won £100 or whatever. This would be covered.

But this comp isn't like that, your win is the winning time and all you are doing is sending in the appropriate wrapper to prove you have entered legitimately.

Not sure I've explained properly but hope it makes sense.
