Barclaycard said no to my offer-what next

Hi
Just had letters from my 3 barclaycard accounts saying the offer is not enough and if I don't reply with 7 days, they will be send ing my accounts to a debt collection agency. I have missed 2 months and they continue to add interest and default payments even though I have asked them twice to freeze the interest. They have called tonight and I gave in and spoke to quite a nice lady. She said they will only accept my offer through a third party like payplan. I was trying to do it myself as I am quite capable and find it difficult to find the time to speak to someone. Should I just let it go to the dca? My credit rating will be shot anyway so does it matter?
Thank you

You could still handle this yourself. Some folk fill in the cccs online debt remedy, it will give you a number which you could add to your correspondence. The added bonus of a good organisation behind you.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
I found the same with Barclaycard, they will pass it to Mercers who "masquerade" as a DCA but are still actually BCard, they were very aggressive etc with me and wouldnt accept a self-administered DMP at all, were adamant it had to be through CCCS etc, I ended up complaining to the FO and after much wrangling they agreed to my offer for 6 months but said I would then have to do it through CCCS etc....
They are by far my worse debt to deal with and if I put what I really think about them I think I would be banned from here :rotfl:
You could always use the online remedy as has been suggested or National Debtline do a good budget planner. The guy at Mercers told me they were like they are cos so many people try to skank them by lying about their ability to pay and apparently people will be more honest going through CCCS. The minimum they would accept from me was 1% of the balance which I couldnt afford hence ny FO complaint, well that and I used to get a letter of them or various associated names every day of the week, along with calls god knows how many times a day until I complained about their phone harassment and got my number removed from their records.
Good luck with dealing them but be prepared for a fight!0 -
I couldnt get Barclaycard to accept an offer of any kind during the 18 months I was in arrears with them, or freeze the interest.
In the last month, I paid the final balance, and due to a bank holiday I didnt factor in, the payment was a day late. I therefore had a balance of £22 ish due to charges. I couldnt even get them to write that off !!
So good luck, I have no advice really other than if they have indicated they might accept an offer through CCCS, then grab that glimmer of hope with both hands ! I dont know if CCCS would write a letter on your behalf if you spoke to them, without you having to do a whole DMP??
There is athread on here where you can ask the CCCS questions directly I think.VR repayment £404 £156.02 PAID
Airpods repayment £249 £185 £75.90 PAID
Airpods repayment £144 £99.01 PAID
Capital One £14000 -
Thanks for this advice. I will keep plugging away but rather than trying to get out of debt, it is getting me deeper into debt. Halifax have sent me a letter today saying that someone will be calling my home on 4th August and to call if this is not convenient. I'm assuming it's similar to the MBNA one I had two weeks ago when I assumed they would be calling at my house rather than telephoning me.0
