DMP Advice needed please...!

Hello everyone. I am now proud to say that I have finally released my head from being buried in the sand and have decided to face the daunting fact that I am officially in debt!!!
I have been trying my hardest over the past few months to up my income via numerous activities, i.e. car boots, selling on ebay, etc but have failed miserably. I received a telephone call from a company called Debt Advisory Line last week......can't imagine where they got my details from??!!
Anyway, they advised an IVA but I don't particularly want to go down this route. They've sent me some info through the post and some forms to sign to enable them to set up this IVA (I keep getting phone calls from them, badgering me!!). I've noticed from reading through these threads that it's advisable not to go with a debt management company that charge a fee, so I have been looking at CCCS and Payplan.
I'm going to contact CCCS with regards to a DMP and hopefully get some advise without feeling pressured into starting something I'm not 100% comfortable with....
I just have one question! I've just recently started doing Party Planning as a side line...(Although I haven't booked any parties as yet ). I have declared this to the Inland Revenue, with regards to tax and NI, but do I need to tell CCCS about it? I don't have a problem declaring it, I just can't give them a specific amount that I make from it?!!
Please hellllppppppp
Thank you very much for reading my post.

Hi there - well done for taking your head out of the sand, its a big step and probably one of the hardest! :j
I don't have the answer to your question but someone will be along soon.
One thing I will add though, is avoid the fee charging companies, I went with one for 2 years and my debt barely went down. I've recently taken back control myself and will be debt free in 2 years time rather than the 6 years that the fee charging company were predicting! :eek:0 -
Thank you for your reply debt_obsessed. I do feel a whole lot better for sharing my problems on this site, it's good to know (in a weird way) that there are a lot of people in the same boat, if you know what I mean?!
It's been a real struggle over the past few months. My OH isn't really speaking to me at the moment....obviously due to the fact that I have built up all this debt and he probably feels that I've let him down.......which is exactly how I feel!!! I know that deep down he will come round eventually and support me, but for now it's separate sides of the bed
Oh well, onwards and upwards.....It definitley can't get any worse(Unless he divorces me of course!!)

Hi - well done for contacting CCCS. The other company will recommend and IVA as they will make a lot of money out of it; CCCS will only recommend if it is suitable for you.
You can mention the Party Planning CCCS if you wish. I was doing Avon at the time I started my dmp but CCCS didn't include it as my income as it wasn't a regular amount each month/week. Instead, any money I made from it, I put into a savings account and put it towards some full and final settlements to some of my smaller creditors or used it as my emergency fund.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free
Mortgage free since 20140 -
Hi Deep In Debt, thanks for your reply
I've just done the Debt Remedy forms on the CCCS website and feel a lot better now! I think I will ring them....I feel more comfortable speaking to someone rather than submitting forms over the net
Thanks for the advice. :beer:PAYDBX17 #29 £760.19/10000 :j0
