Very well done. Gosh, you have done really well. :T Enjoy saving, you will enjoy seeing the balances build up much more than spending money.

One thing though, did you cut up your credit cards and close them down? Just in case you are tempted, it won't be so each?

    Enjoy the feeling.

Well I treated myself to some much needed work trousers and a new top. Thats it now for this months spending on 'treats' Came to £26.00 for both.

End of the month the saving plan kicks in!

I still have the credit card I just dunno what to do with it really? Keep it or get rid of it? Its currently in a safe in my room, locked away, I was thinking of keeping it for good credit rating? And for REAL emergencies only?

Well today my mum and dad have gone on hinting several times to use my credit car to pay for their car hire in spain £370. Plus she asked if she could take it to spain incase they needed it. I am beginning to think if its a good idea me having it, what with my sister too sniffing at it too. But whilst trying to book up spain (not on my card) not many companies accept anything other than a credit card which is mad! Why should people have to have a credit card?

Well today I am off shopping for some winter clothes to update my wardrobe a bit. Its so nice to take cash this time rather than using the credit card!

Just looking back at this old post of mine. Just to update I then went on to spend about £1100 on clothes and had a very good time buying things. Still don't think I have learnt anything, and still have no savings. I have no debt. I seem to be all or nothing. Split personality, one good side one naughty. My good side has reared its head again and I am trying to educate myself in to thinking about what I spend my money on more. Do I really want this/need. My good side has good intentions of trying to save 3k by end of April next year, but will I be able to do it? Or will temptation lure me in to buying more clothes and stuff. Hmm time will tell!

I have been thinking recently if I would be better cutting up my credit card, it would be so hard though to live without right now. Think I need savings before I do cut it up.

Shove it in an old cleaned out baked bean tin full of water in the freezer. There if you must use it - but not avalable for spur of the moment stuff!

Hi Vikki - well done for getting debt free... Perhaps aim to save a smaller amount each month... you might find that easier to stick to. I would aim to have 3 months salary saved - that way if you lost your job or had a problem that would keep you going for a while...

Thanks for your replies I decided today that I will save £300 a month next year, a total of £3600. I will easily be able to do that, and will get me in to saving and I shouldn't notice that I am saving.

Set up the standing order for £300 each month. Am still debt free. Doing Martin's money mantras each time I want to buy something.
