Credit report cleanup !

Hi all,
have been using CreditExpert free trial and have asked them to contact my defaults (Barclays and Aktiv Kapital) to ask them to clean up my credit file. They have already contacted Barclays who then promptly told them they were to get me to contact them direct of which I have done so this afternoon. I spoke to a very nice young lady who basically told me to send in by fax, hard copy or e-mail a copy of the entry on my credit file and a copy of my release letter from OR / discharge certificate and my file will be updated within a month.... Happy days !...
Is this normal practice ?
Just spoken to my other default and they have updated my credit file within the last 20 minutes ?
That can't be right can it ?
regards

You can try to correct the entries through the CRA, but it can be a bit hit and miss. Plus you would have to do it through each of the 3 separately which is a pain.
One letter direct to each lender should sort it for all 3 agencies if you do it direct though.
Plus it allows you to keep more evidence of your request to report to the ICO if they don't comply.
