Can I sell my hair??!

Hi,

a bit random, i know but i remember my great-grandma used to grown her hair very long and then sell it to a wig maker - this was a very long time ago but was wondering if there is still any demand. I know you can buy real hair wigs that are quite expensive, but where do they get the hair from? My friend said these were usually made in asia, but i don't reckon they have too many redheads over there??

I think they dye the hair, so it doesn't matter what colour it is. I read something once on the packaging of some hair extensions, and it said the women in a certain culture donate their hair at a temple, and the hair extension company buy it from the temple.

So, I suspect their isn't any money to be made here, unfortunately.

You could donate you hair to a wig maker charity which makes wigs for children who have cancer. OK, you wouldn't get any money but it would be a lovely feeling and a child may need a red hair wig.

think i'll have to put a bit more effort into caring for my hair before its good enough to sell though.
  • Polish girls sell their hair and it can be a lucrative business.

Jamelia ( the popstar) did a programme about it to see where her hair extensions actually came from.

    Very interesting programme.

So yes, you can sell your hair, but I am not sure how you go about it !
