Gambling and bankryptcy

Hi guys

We have declared bankruptcy and have just had our interview with the OR. I am in panic stations as I declared that I have gambled approx £1000 in the past, but have just been going through my last 2 years statements and it is more like £3000. As our debt is £60000, I know this has been no impact on our situation, but am terrified in case she thinks I was lying as I honestly could not remember. What must I do:mad:

Just be honest you had a problem and didn't realise how bad it was.

I think there is a 10% amount of total debt before gambling is considered a problem. £3000 of £60,000 is only 5%. They ask about how much you spent on gambling to establish whether that was a significant cause of your bankruptcy.

I don't think it's a major problem that you said £1,000 instead of £3,000. I doubt many people would know how much they spend on anything over a period of 6 months yet alone a year or more. If you are really concerned then speak to the OR but the reality is that the evidence is there in the statements so it's not like you were trying to hide it.
  • i gambled around 9% of debt OR wasnt to bothered but did ask if i had stopped and did i seek advice, He asked how i bet and where,, and thats as far as it went

Hi. Just a quick question about your BRO. I was made bankrupt a few months ago with about 20% due to gambling in last 2 years. Ive heard nothing about a BRO since and i was wondering how long it took before they told you you were going to get one.
    Thanks
