Once your OH goes BR he's responsible to the OR till he's discharged...(12mnths or sooner if he's lucky to get an early discharge) he as to tell the OR of any finances change within 21 days....IF you have a surplus ammount of cash left over £99 a month after living expenses are paid then the OR would look at an IPA (this would run for 3yrs so again your OH would have 3rys to inform the OR of any changes....but no IPA during bankruptcy then he's only responsible for 12mnths tops!...then after that he's a free man

I have to admit that, like you, I also have regrets about my Bankruptcy (even after almost 3 years) and concerns about the future.
I, too, often feel very depressed and angry at having had to put my wife and family through the effects of my Bankruptcy.
Like other posters, I had my own business and would dearly like to get back into business. Unlike some, I have, so far, been unsuccessful in my attempts to re-start, but am still trying.
Yes, it has been an 'eye-opener' having to live on a 'near minimum wage' part-time job, having been used to, for many years, what many would call the 'finer side of life'.
Bankruptcy, inevitably, alters peoples' lives and, whilst there is the 'positive' aspect in that 'debts' (whether real or alleged) no longer are a problem, there will always be negatives - it's a fact of life.
It is difficult to maintain the 'positive' attitude that we all, self included, advocate on this board, but there are more 'positives' than 'negatives', Sammy. It's just that, sometimes, you need to sit back and count them.
I get a lot of encouragement from this forum and I know that things will pick up for me, as they will for your DH. It just takes a lot of time and a positive attitude - both of which you (as I do) can find here.
So, chin up Sammy - you've been through the worst - things will get better.

PS - can I have a go on the Harley, when he gets it?
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Thank you so much for the Rog. I think the initial reaction my DH and myself had, is the affect it has after the BR, i.e, credit files and so on.
I know my DH is insolvent, but I am sending out letters to his creditors, before the BR, so we know exactly how much is owed, then when the time comes for the OR interview, my DH has got it all in front of him.

These past couple of mths haven't been 'as' bad, as we've not been paying the debts, instead paying a DMP, but that payment is going to last 44 years, and the debts are 'still' there.

As I'm sure alot of people who are now in this situation, or been there, have had sleepless nights, which has been happening here for the past year, and I can't wait till that day comes where my DH can breathe again, as such :D

Best of luck to you at getting back into business, I'm sure the time will come, when the times right...:D

    Sam.

P.s, I'm sure once he has the bike, he'll let you have a spin :)

There's been more drinking in this house just lately than ever before, I'm sure once he's on the straight and narrow again, that will stop, it doesn't help the day after though :rotfl:

Going to sit down tonight and work out roughly what will be left over. Well we'll try anyway, as outgoings will be different then, as hopefully we'll have found a private rent

Got to shoot out to take DS to nursery, going to email tons of agents when I get back, surely some will help us.
