Hey I'm new to this.....
Found it after searching for some reviews of Tesco Opticians.... We got one back in April or something when the Carrick branch built their extension! Now I've just received a letter telling me my eye test needs done again and I am just wondering if anyone here has tried the Opticians in Carrick and can advise what its like.....
I'm a little sceptical considering it is located within a supermarket obviously and dont want to waste my time going there if im going to end up going somewhere else!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Many Thanks

Hi, no I would not go to Tesco Optitions again. They don't do a full test ie the one when they blow air into the eye. They didn't do the test for peripheral vision, either, I had to go back 3 times the varifocals were not right at all
. In the end after a lot of trouble I got my money back. I was drawn in by the 2 for 1 never again. 0 -
I would not use TEsco opticians again either. I was really struggling with my vision, had eyes tested in Tesco, told I didn;t need new glasses and the problem was that mine were badly scratched.
I wasn;t happy with this and went back to my 'usual' optician. I was given new glasses that were much much stronger than the last pair and my vision is fine again now.
Not very impressed with Tesco!!!0 -
I woould advise you to go to a good optician first ie |Boots then get your glasses from Tesco as they are must cheaper , mine have been fine for the past 2 years any problems with the little screws etc they refit withour charge while you wait, very convenient for me as I shop at Tesco all the time. You live..You learn.:)0

I had a Tesco eye test yesterday (at the Shoreham branch). They did carry out all the necessary tests (including blowing air, peripheral vision etc) but still I was not impressed by their offhand behaviour and general customer interaction skills. I won't be going there again for eye tests but will get contact lenses from their internet site as it's one of the cheapest.0

Cheapest?? Which lenses is that? I checked on the price of one day Acuvue moist and Tescos were charging something like £408 for a year. Specsavers website only quoted £354. Some American websites were cheaper still, but only just.0 -
I went as I saw a pair of glasses I really liked in there , the eye test was fine but I decided to go for varifocals
and thats where the trouble started, they were awful , being new to varifocals I now understand that they are completely different to normal glasses
they weren't fitted properly , nothing was explained to me and I was very unhappy
I don't think I would go there again0 -
OH had contacts and glasses from Tescos. The contact lens caused severe eye irritation and he had to leave them out for 1 month. He had two pairs of glasses, titanium ones, one pair snapped in half and the other pair the lenses were badly cut and rough and chipped on the edges.

I got my glasses from Tesco (prescription from D&H) and they've been fine. Good selection of frames, I got 1 pair Gucci and 1 MaxMara (2 pairs for the price of one at the time), optician was really meticulous about getting the fit right.
Funnily enough Poppy9, my husband had titanium frames (from Costco) and they snapped - he had about three replacement pairs and I think they all went in the same place.0 -
Hi, I wonder if anyone can advise. I got a pair of glasses from Tesco. According to their eye test, my prescription increased dramatically, although not so for my contacts ("they're closer to the eye, so that's why" they said).
Problem is, after a few weeks of use, i still feel like I'm in the house of mirrors when i wear the new glasses, and get terribly dizzy. Is there a way to check if I got the right prescription (as I guess I didn't), and would they replace the glasses should that be the case? As a consumer I don't know where I stand with this... Thanks!0
