you guys know the forums pretty well :D

is there a crafty/homemade section anywhere? especially about running your own business, and where to find craftfairs? is it scary, as venturing away from BB, SS and FF usually is? :rotfl: ;) I need to get my jewellery company running again :)

yup hunni pie there sure is :Dhttp://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.html?f=101

That board is full of people who craft and there are quite a few who run a business doing so. I used to frequent regularly which is why I started with the card making, nappy cakes, door hangers etc. Which reminds me I need some mdf.
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

    Hi guys,

Just been moaning about why the 'abuse' and 'thanks' buttons are placed so close to each other ....he's not around so I can't do my round of routine moaning and needed to take it out anyway lol :o:o not that I've been comping either...but just needed to find something to moan about..

Also meant to say to SFH there seems to be a comp posted today to see her team? ? copied the link then lost it because I copied something else...

    fankoo :D
I really need to get back into craft fairs - did a few last year and made over £400 - but sadly all the ones around here have died off :( me thinks I need a shinier website and more promo to get the ball rolling again :rotfl: most of my things are kinda "childish" in a sense though, mostpeople who buy them buy them for kids so guess I should start targetting that more, despite the fact I wear a lot of what I make

(if anyone wants a nose, there's a link to my page on my profile. Not that I'm looking for interest at the moment but you know, good critique is always useful and I need a new company name :);) )

  • Had a quick peek at your site Gemma, and there really is lots of beautiful things on there especially the bookmarks. My only suggestion about your home page is to make it lighter, in particular I refer to the blue headings on the black background. A friend of mine who is dyslexic would find those headings very hard to decypher. Apart from that the site looks great! Lisa x

Wow Gemma, what an exciting hobby. I have a soft spot for fashion design and etc and I wish that I took that path in life :o

Ok just had a nosey and they look lovely but like you said they target a certain age. Can you not use other material like wood and silver or combinations of these etc...you know, chuncky bracelets with touches of silver etc

Second critique  which you know yourself, you need a flash site where your products are exhibited on the home page ...visual images will attract more average people than text...some people are too lazy to navigate so you need to get them hooked from the start....

    thanks guys :o:D
yeah, I need a totally new website and a new set of photos (especially since a lot of that has now sold)

NNW, the chainmaille's more for the adults, only recently got into that, just ordered a tonne more coloured rings to make some with :D and the bookmarks I guess, if I made them more delicate, would suit adults taste.. I just don't want to lose the original path I had - to make colourful, playful pieces ITMS :)

MC - thanks, I agree :) I'm just not a fan of white, so need to find a calmer colour which will work with black text :) That site was a weekend knockup job before going to a craft fair and had been very rarely touched. Might get my mate (whos also my landlord) to chip in his 2cents as he's very good website-design wise :)

hmmm... I've just had a brainwave for pictures.. I wonder if Flickr will play ball for a change :rotfl: another mission for this evening :D sorry, rambling to myself now ;)

    Hi all,
Managed to do abit of comping last night, It's getting easier. I dont post much but am following this thread everyday with you all. Think I got scramble sussed will go there in a min and look for some of your familiar names.
Just wanted to say to mad-gemma, Took a peek at your site and I think it is great. It's very hard to find time to update things and yours is full of a wide range of your products. I think it's amazing. I have a small craft site on e-bay and find it really hard to update and add more things. So well done on what you've got. I think it's brill. xxxx
Would love to earn an extra £40 a Week. Trying to find ways to :-)

Gemma alsoo thought why don't you personalise your products by giving them unique and fun names, the Lush way, if you know what you mean....
OK I better shut up and go do my work
It's all your mistake you got me started on a subject I enjoy lol
